Born in 1875 in Włoszczowa (Kielce District) to Józef (a farmer) and Józefa (maiden name: Piasecka). He was getting education by himself. He worked as a notary trainee then became a secretary in the Mortgage Department of Częstochowa Municipality.

He was widely respected for his social activity as being a council member of the Cooperative People’s Bank, a representative of the Credit Community for Industry and Trade and a member of many other organizations e.g. the Singing Society “Lutnia”, the Voluntary Fire Brigade, the Gymnastic Community “Sokół”; the Sport Club “Turyści”; the Committee For Flood Victims Relief; the Social Help Committee; the Assistance for Unemployeds Committee.

He was one of the founders of the Słowacki Gymnasium, the municipal hospital, the neo-Gothic cathedral at Krakowska Street and the Mickiewicz Theatre (all in Częstochowa). He also was a member of the Civil Guard, a temporary formation which was disarming the Germans in 1918 when Poland regained its independence. The Guard was also formed in 1939 as an element of widespread preparation for the Defensive War (Adam Plebanek was chosen its commander).

He died in 1953 and was laid in the cemetery in Częstochowa. In 1937 he was held with decoration of the Golden Order of Merit. He was married with Adela (maiden name: Koźmińska, a social activist who carried out dinner delivery section of the Social Help Committee). They had two daughters: Halina Brzozowska, Maria Smelczyńska and two sons: Seweryn (1920 - 1984 an economist) and Tadeusz (1902 - 1940 an advocate).
